Dental implants are often the best way to replace missing teeth. Rather than use your gums or other teeth to support missing teeth, dental implants act like the tooth root to support a tooth crown. The tooth crown is the part you see, eat and function with. Dental implants are made of titanium which during healing, your jaw bone biologically bonds to the implant in a process called osseointegration.

The dental implant process:
  • Comprehensive examination and treatment planning to make sure a Dental Implant is the ideal treatment option for you.
  • Dental scans are taken to ensure there is adequate bone to place the implant into and check for important anatomical structures.
  • Placement of the implant under local anaesthetic and allow 3-6 months for healing.
  • After adequate healing, impressions can be taken to fabricate your final tooth crown.
  • The crown is attached to the implant via an abutment and now you have your missing tooth replaced!

Dental implants can also be used in other ways to stabilize dentures and replace multiple missing teeth so please feel free to contact us for more information.
